COCONUT NUCIFERA OIL (COCOS NUCIFERA)

3 spoon(s)

BAKING SODA (SODIUM HYDROGEN CARBONATE)

3 spoon(s)

STEVIA EXTRACT (STEVIA REBAUDIANA)

1 spoon(s)

PEPPERMINT ESSENTIAL OIL (MENTHA X PIPERITA)

18 drop(s)

JAR

100 millilitre

INSTRUCTIONS / DESCRIPTION:

Baking soda is an abrasive that is not harsh on your teeth and can restore pH balance. Being a mild abrasive, it also helps whiten teeth. The baking soda scraps away at the particles on your teeth that can make them look yellow.

Coconut oil is actually a great germ fighter. It is antifungal, antibacterial, and studies have shown that it may even fight plaque causing bacteria on your teeth.

Stevia gives sweetness for our toothpaste. Also you can use half a teaspoon of crushed dried leaves of stevia or mint. But it is less messy with stevia extract.

Essential oils you can use any which you like (sweeter, minty, fruity – eucalyptus essential oil, grapefruit seed essential oil, peppermint essential oil, cinnamon essential oil)

I prefer peppermint essential oil.

How to make home made toothpaste:

Melt coconut oil over very low heat and then add all other ingredients. Mix until you get a homogeneous mixture.

Put the mixture into a tube or in a small jar.

Cool until it hardens and is then ready for use. Stir every 2-3 minutes to make sure ingredients blend well, until the composition hardens. All this time keep the recipient in a cool environment.

Put a small amount of this mixture on a toothbrush and brush as normal. Keep the tube or jar of toothpaste away from heat and light sources.

Use lukewarm water when brushing and cleaning your toothbrush as the coconut oil can get messy in cold water.
